The Torn Planet
Planet GJ 1061 d is no paradise. The world orbits on the edge of the habitable zone around its star, which only allows life near the equator.
Nevertheless, the Majestic Draght stops in the system because the planet has a special feature: a huge rift runs from the south pole almost to the equator, and this canyon does not appear to have any geological causes. What is the mystery behind it?
Marchenko and his alien friends think they can answer the question quickly, but they have not reckoned with those who arrived here before them.
The Marchenko logfiles describe the incredible but always realistic adventures of an unusual crew in the immediate vicinity of the solar system.

The crew of the "Majestic Draght" has to deal with strange attacks. Who is trying to prevent the spaceship from continuing its journey? A brand new crew member plays an increasingly important role in the investigation. Will Eve manage to solve the mystery with her help?
The conflict reaches its climax when the ship enters the orbit of an ice planet. Its gravitational pull could destroy many lives—but it could also thwart the plans of the unknown attacker.

The Majestic Draght reaches a solar system that shouldn't really exist: one of the planets orbits both central stars, but in an orbit that runs perpendicular to that of the other celestial bodies. This course should actually lead to powerful catastrophes on a regular basis – and just as the Grosnop's spaceship arrives there, such an event is about to happen. It looks as if Marchenko and his friends will have to repair an entire star system – an impossible task ...

The mysterious builders leave a trail through the local cloud, which the Majestic Draght follows—all those involved expect to reap enormous benefits from tracking down the remains of this advanced civilization.
But do the aliens even want to be found? In any case, a promising target turns out to be a disappointment. Here of all places, Marchenko and his alien friends realize that they need the help of the builders more urgently than they would like.
The celestial body they have headed for remains shrouded in mystery – and ultimately seems to be exactly what it appeared to be at first glance: a planet that has nothing to offer but death.

The Majestic Draght enters the system of the white dwarf Wolf 489 – reverently called the Trident by the Grosnops. On board, the ship's AI clings to the hope of finally finding traces of the mysterious builders here and perhaps even a cure for the plague that keeps Adam, Ragnor, and dozens of others trapped in cold sleep.
But the reality is bleak. The system's only planet is a dead world riddled with cracks, scorched and lifeless. Commander Gronolf's skepticism seems to be confirmed; the enormous sacrifices made to save the ship may have been in vain. Time is running out for the sick.
Just as despair threatens to paralyze the decimated crew, the sensors discover something that defies all expectations: a tiny, perfectly round object orbiting the dead star. It is far too small to explain the previously measured gravitational disturbances, and yet it appears to be the only unusual celestial body in the system.

The Majestic Draght reaches Gliese 514—and hopes are high that they will finally find a planet there that meets the Grosnops needs. But up close, things don’t look promising at all. The system’s central star doesn’t even seem to have a planet! Together, the crew must solve a mystery that might be better left unsolved…
